BOSIET with CA-EBS Course Details
The Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) is the mandatory entry pathway for personnel traveling to offshore oil and gas installations globally.
Course Overview
This training introduces learners to specific safety regimes, hazard control frameworks, and survival protocols unique to offshore production assets. It prepares delegates to respond efficiently to airborne transit risks and sea emergency environments.
Core Modules Included
- Offshore Safety Induction: Overview of generic installation hazards, safety rules, and risk elimination metrics.
- Helicopter Safety & HUET: Helicopter safety layouts and practical submersion escape drills inside an underwater trainer simulator.
- CA-EBS Practical Training: Safe donning, clearing, and breathing techniques utilizing emergency compressed air gear.
- Sea Survival: Life jacket and liferaft deployment mechanisms, cold-water shock protection, and group towing systems.
- Firefighting & Self-Rescue: Handheld extinguisher operation and navigation through completely dark or smoke-filled corridors.
- Elementary First Aid: Lifesaving techniques including primary assessment, bleeding control, and CPR management at sea.
Course Duration
The standard program spans 3 consecutive days containing integrated classroom assessment blocks and practical in-water simulators.
Certification Validity
Upon successful validation, an official OPITO registry certificate is issued. It remains fully valid for a maximum period of 4 years from the completion date.
Course Entry Requirements
- Valid government-issued identification or passport documentation.
- A valid, in-date Oil & Gas UK (OGUK / OEUK) medical fitness clearance profile.
- An official Fit-to-Train physical respiratory assessment certification.
